A manual raising awareness of HIV and AIDS has been launched in the Caribbean.
'Jamaica Praying' has been produced by the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI) and features a series of sensitive liturgies and sermons surrounding the issue of HIV and AIDS in the region.
The aim is to give church workers the advice they need on how to handle a pandemic of the deadly conditions should they break out among their community, Anglican News reports.
Jamaica Praying has received special commendation from the World Council of Churches.
Rev Dr Nyambura Njoroge, coordinator of the Ecumenical HIV and AID Initiatives and Advocacy, told the publication: "I look forward to strengthened partnership with UTCWI, the Jamaica Council of Churches and other partners in the region as we address the root causes of HIV pandemic, other social injustices and human sexuality."
The manual comes after Jamaica's ministry of health confirmed that the country was edging closer in attempting to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, Jamaica Observer reports.
